Washing and care

Naturally dyed textiles and yarn require a gentle approach to maintain long-lasting colour and softness.

Washing by hand is best in cool to lukewarm water. Heat can shift the colour so it's best not to chuck in a washing machine. Swish gently in the water rather than agigating too much and ten minutes is long enough.

Use a pH-neutral, gentle detergent. My favourite is Ecover Wool & Silk Delicate Laundry Liquid which is plant-based and enzyme-free. I also love Soak which is also made with plant-derived and renewable ingredients and is biodegradable. Eucalan or pure soap flakes are also good options.

The reason pH-neutral soap washes are recommended is because anything too acid or alkaline can shift the colour of naturally dyed textiles.

Dry flat and avoid direct sunlight.
